We have arrived

>> Sunday, April 05, 2015

Our plane arrived in Kittila a few minutes late but it didn't stop us getting fairly quickly onto the Inghams bus and along the road here to Levi by 8.30pm local time and then into our very nice cosy wee cottage which is only about 200m from the main slopes.
Sandy and I walked over to the nearby supermarket and got a few things and we sat down to a quick dinner of rice and vegetables, followed by quite a fair number of rye bread rolls, which we had all been looking forward to, as always!

The cottage is great, we are very happy with it. Our only concern is Olivia, incredibly who appears to have a high temperature... and therefore we will need to watch this very carefully. She has gone to bed with some medicine and if necessary will miss.skiing tomorrow if she needs time to improve. Having had pneumonia last year in France when we were skiing, we don't want a repeat this year if at all possible.
More information tomorrow.... Bed time for the rest of us now.

Silja Line - Sweden to Finland

Silja Line - Sweden to Finland
A fantastic way to arrive in Finland is by using the Tallink Silja service from Stockholm in Sweden. These are magnificent boats which take you overnight into Helsinki's centre, and to travel by car with a good quality sea-view cabin is relatively inexpensive. Buffet dinners are outstanding!

Viking Line - Sweden to Finland
An inexpensive way to arrive in Finland is to take the Viking Line ferry service from Stockholm to Helsinki. This overnight service gives the opportunity to sleep in a spacious cabin, taking your car, and arriving the next morning in central Helsinki. This service operates at the same time as the Silja Line service each day.

Finnlines - Germany to Finland

Finnlines - Germany to Finland
On several occasions over the past few years, we have used the excellent FinnLines ferry service from Travemunde in Germany, to sail right up the Baltic Sea to Helsinki. It's an expensive option, but it is a truly memorable journey on what are very modern and extremely comfortable boats. Highly recommended!
